Extra Curricular Activities
St Mary Star of The Sea School has a diverse offering of after school
extra curricular activities to choose from for students of all ages.
- Basketball: The SMS Basketball program plays other area
Catholic schools in fun, spirited competition. All interested students
in the appropriate grades are invited to join the team. The coaches are
experienced volunteer parents/community members. See
the 2008/09 schedule. The 2006/07 Girls Varsity team was the
North Shore Catholic Elementary School League Champs.
- Cross Country: This year SMS added a boys and girls
cross country team. The teams participate in the North Shore
Catholic Elementary School League.
- Pep Squad: Our Pep Squad is open to all interested St.
Mary’s girls and boys. They add to the spirit during Home games. They
were awarded First prize for their division in the Santa Parade this
year!
- Enrichment Programs: We have a very diverse after
school enrichment program run by professionals in each area.
Programs available vary from term to term. After school enrichment
programs include student council and math club.
- Music and Band: The Paul Effman Music Service provides
after school band instruction to interested students. The service
provides highly trained educators along with a skillful manager to
regularly oversee the program. Teachers are carefully selected
based on their college education and performing accomplishments.
The instruments involved in the school band include; Flute, Clarinet,
Saxophone, Trumpet, and Percussion. Lessons are open to grades

- Yearbook Committee: The Yearbook is put together by
interested students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Each grade is featured
through individual class photos as well as fun candid's capturing special
moments throughout the school year.
- Santa Parade Float: Every year a group of parents and
students build a float for the annual Beverly Santa Parade.

- Drama Club: Every year the drama club produces two
plays. This years Christmas performance of Charles Dickens's A
Christmas Carol was enjoyed by the entire school and the cast's
